DIATOMITE 2500 Mesh
What's Diatomite
Diatomite is a natural inorganic non-metallic mineral material. It is a biogenic siliceous rock formed by ancient single-celled diatoms through long-term geological processes.
Mainly SiO₂, containing a small amount of Al₂O₃, Fe₂O₃, CaO, MgO, K₂O, Na₂O, P₂O₅ and organic matter. Loose, lightweight, with Mohs hardness of 1-1.5 and density of 2.0 g/cm³.
The porosity reaches 60%-80%. The pores are distributed in an orderly or regular manner. The pore size distribution ranges from several nanometers to hundreds of nanometers.
The average pore size of nitrogen adsorption is about 10 nm. The specific surface area is 10-80 m²/g.
It has strong water absorption and permeability and can absorb 1.5-4 times its own weight of water. It has good thermal stability. The melting point is 1650-1750 degree Celsius .
It has good chemical stability. Except for hydrofluoric acid, it is insoluble in any strong acids but can be dissolved in strong alkali solutions.
Moreover, it is a poor conductor of heat, electricity and sound. Requires a shallow water basin with a wide area and relatively shallow water body;
abundant sources of soluble SiO₂; abundant supply of nutrients; good water quality, non-toxic, and good flow stability; and less detrital components.

Directions For Use
Diatomite is an excellent soil conditioner. It can significantly improve soil health and make the soil more conducive to root growth.
Direct Application
Add diatomaceous earth directly into the top layer of the soil (at a depth of about 10 - 15 centimeters) in a certain proportion (such as adding 100 - 200 grams per square meter).
Through plowing or harrowing, make it fully mixed with the soil. This helps improve the soil's aeration, drainage, and water retention, and is particularly suitable for heavy clay soil.
Potting Soil
Mix diatomaceous earth with leaf mold soil, peat soil, perlite, etc. in a certain proportion (for example, diatomaceous earth: leaf mold soil: perlite = 1:3:1)
and use it for flower planting, vegetable seedling raising, etc.
Such nutrient soil can provide a good growth environment for plant roots and ensure the healthy development of roots.
Soil Irrigation
Apply it as soil irrigation raw material when water the land, 2500 mesh (D 50: 5 micrometer) powder can be used in most of the irrigation systems.
Pest control
For pest control on plants such as vegetables and flowers, directly sprinkle diatomaceous earth powder on the leaves, stems and surrounding soil surface of the plants.
Applying it in the early morning or evening when there is dew on the leaves has a better effect because the dew can make the diatomaceous earth adhere better to the plants.
Using about 5 - 10 grams of diatomaceous earth per square meter of plant surface can have a good control effect on pests such as aphids and thrips. :
Mix diatomaceous earth with an appropriate amount of water to make a suspension (generally diatomaceous earth accounts for 10% - 20%),
then add a small amount of surfactant (such as 0.1% - 0.2% detergent) to enhance its adhesion,
and then evenly spray the suspension on the plant surface with a sprayer for pest and disease control.
